Near-death experiences, astral projection and the ‘tough question’ of the nature of conciousness continues to inspire current scientific research, and a new theory was put forth in November, 2014.
Studying a near death experience, a professor at the University of Arizona Dr. Stuart Hameroff, said upon death the quantum information that inhabits the nervous system leaves the body and dissipates into the universe.
“Let’s say the heart stops beating, the blood stops flowing, the microtubules lose their quantum state. The quantum information within the microtubules is not destroyed, it can’t be destroyed, it just distributes and dissipates to the universe at large,” Dr. Hameroff told the Science Channel’s ‘Through the Wormhole’ documentary.
If the patient is revived, however, this quantum information can go back into the microtubules and that is what we describe as ‘a near death experience‘.
“If they’re not revived, and the patient dies, it’s possible that this quantum information can exist outside the body, perhaps indefinitely, as a soul,” Dr. Hameroff said.
According to British physicist Sir Roger Penrose, Consciousness resides as consistent quantum energy in the microtubules of the brain cells. Upon death, theory says this information is released from your body, meaning that your consciousness goes with it or could get back in a ‘near death experience’, which is solid proof of consciousness consistence.
